Photographer's copyright stamp and caption on verso.Czech surrealist photography thrived notably in the years of Stalinist terror in the 1950s, bringing to a head the conflict between the individual and the outside world. Some of the best results in this sphere were then accomplished by Alois Nozicka (born in 1934), a member of the Prague surrealist circle. Their photographs were characterized by "large details” of isolated objects, confusing fragments of walls, dust heaps or natural formations.
